Why Chile? Here's why....

EcoCamp Patagonia

The phrase eco-lodging generates images of environmentally friendly, luxurious and usually expensive lodging opportunities in exotic places. While these lodging properties boast eco-friendliness they are often times built in environmentally sensitive areas.  Eco-lodging is currently a trend in tourism to attract environmentally responsible guests.  This new niche of lodging should be commended for their intentions,  the creation and development of the property often conflicts with their enviro-loving intentions.

EcoCamp Patagonia is different, they are truly offering a simple, elegant and environmentally friendly destination.    This property is an excellent example of sustainable development while continually taking precautionary measures to minimize their impact on the Patagonia ecosystem and the properties carbon footprint.  EcoCamp was opened in 2001, the region's first fully sustainable accommodation south of the Amazon and the world's first geodesic hotel room.

Chile...the land of extremes

Due to Chile’s extremely diverse geography, this country located in the Earth’s extreme Southwest is prone to the effects of a warming planet.

Chile's territorial shape is among the worlds most unusual. From north to south, Chile extends 4,270 km (2,653 mi) from 17° latitude to Cape Horn at 56, while it only averages 177 km (110 mi) east to west. Chile is defined by the pacific ocean to the west (sea level) and Nevado del Ojos, Chile's highest point, is the  tallest volcano in the world at 6,893 meters (22,615 ft), second highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.
